The more commercial space ventures going to Mars the better. ralphewig: Mars or Bust - In case you hadn’t noticed, space exploration is heating up around the world; a lot. The renewed outlook for affordable space transportation brought on by the growing commercial space industry has people planning for trips to our red neighbor around the globe. In Australia, there is MarsDrive: a non-profit organization designing a Mars mission around the planned SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch vehicle.  In the US, there is the Mars Society, which just announced that SpaceX Founder and CEO Elon Musk will address the 15th Annual International Mars Society Convention in Pasadena, California, on Saturday, August 4th during the organization’s evening banquet. And in Europe, there is Mars One, a company in the Netherlands looking to finance a one-way mission to Mars for a group of early pioneers using (among other things) the revenue of casting the mission as a reality-TV show.  Readers of online nerd powerhouse slashdot recently posed a serious of questions to company lead Bas Lansdorp, who provided some very interesting answers.
